Friedrich Schiller University Jena is Thuringia’s only comprehensive university. Founded in 1558, today the university offers almost 200 majors and subjects, ranging from archaeology to dentistry. Roughly 18,000 students (Summer Semester 2014), of whom over 1,900 are international, are enrolled at University of Jena and their university’s consistently good conditions of study are being evidenced in various different rankings and studies.
University of Jena distinguishes itself through high research dynamics. Traditionally the university maintains an interdisciplinary invested working style as well as a network with non-university research institutes and the economy.
