MultiHoloDiag - Multiparameter Analysis with Optical Holographic Methods for Medical Diagnostics

The "MultiHoloDiag" research group is investigating approaches that simultaneously record several diagnostic parameters using an optical holographic procedure in just a few minutes.

Scientists from three InfectoGnostics partners will work together in the research group: In addition to the Leibniz-IPHT as coordinating institute, the Center for Sepsis Care and Control (CSCC) and the  Institute for Infectious Diseases and Infection Control of the University Hospital Jena will also participate. Together, the group is researching and developing a broadly applicable optical-holographic analysis platform: In addition to the already established optical method, holographic detection will also exploit the interference and diffraction effects of light and amplify the measurement signal.

With the help of a special phase grating and a functionalized surface, up to 25 times more sensitive measurements of several parameters can be performed simultaneously. The new method is intended to significantly increase sensitivity and speed for applications in molecular diagnostics and serology.

An industrial advisory board has been set up specifically for the research group, in which Blink, Jenoptik, QInstruments, Senova and Codion Optics, experienced companies from the region, are represented. Every six months, the results of the research group are presented to the Industry Advisory Board and discussed, particularly with regard to exploitation aspects.

The new research group is funded by the Free State of Thuringia with funds from the European Social Fund (ESF).

Project duration: 01.01.2019 till 31.12.2021
