Personalized Medicine aims to maximize therapy benefit and to minimize risks and side effects. Rising requirements on what companion diagnostics have to fulfill, lead to higher requirements on the test systems needed. This calls for novel competencies and can only be implemented and commercialized within network cooperations. For this purpose the Companion Diagnostics Network (CDN) offers an ideal platform: In this network diagnostics companies − together with various partners − push research and development of biomarker-based diagnostics for personalized medicine. Involving diagnostics‘ users in the developmental process ensures to encompass their needs early on, to develop customized products and services and to promote the marketing of innovations.
