As a public-private partnership the InfectoGnostics research campus is working on developing new methods in infection diagnostics. The Jena initiative has already brought more than 30 regional and international partners from science, medicine and industry together. In close cooperation they explore and develop marketable solutions for rapid and cost-effective on-site analysis (point-of-care testing) infections. With "CarbDetect AS-2 Kit" the InfectoGnostics partner Alere already introduced the first commercial product from the central campus project.
For its innovative approach to cooperation and its promising development the InfectoGnostics Research Campus has now been nominated in the category "Smart growth" for the European RegioStars Award. The winners will be announced on the 11th of October in Brussels at the "European Week of Regions and Cities". The winners in each category will receive a RegioStars trophy and a certificate presented by European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Corina Creţu, and the President of the RegioStars jury.
