SESSION "TECHNOLOGY CORNER IN DIAGNOSTICS" AT AMR-CONFERENCE 2025 IN BASEL

The upcoming AMR Conference will feature a pivotal session moderated by Jens Hellwage (InfectoGnostics Research Campus Jena) and supported by the Thuringian Cluster Management.

Marie-Luise Enghardt, Doktorandin am Leibniz-IPHT, stellte eine On-Chip-Raman-Analyse für das Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing (AST) vor.

Upcoming AMR Conference Session: Technology Corner in Diagnostics

This session will highlight cutting-edge diagnostic technologies that have the potential to significantly advance the global response to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) by improving speed, accuracy, and accessibility in pathogen identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.

Session Highlights

Leading experts in the field will present novel approaches and technologies designed to enhance diagnostic capabilities in AMR detection:

  • Stephane Gavoille (Molsid) will introduce fluorescence-based AST technology, a breakthrough solution that offers rapid and cost-effective antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST). This innovation is particularly promising for scaling into low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), addressing critical gaps in access to fast and reliable diagnostics.
  • Marianne Ismail (Microbira Limited) will showcase a novel bacteria and yeast identification software that enables reagent-free fluconazole resistance detection using MAAP-IR technology. This advancement has the potential to streamline AMR diagnostics and reduce reliance on traditional resource-intensive methods.
  • Marie-Louise Enghardt (Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology) will discuss on-chip Raman spectroscopy, a highly sensitive tool for rapid antimicrobial susceptibility testing. This method leverages spectral signatures to detect resistance patterns, offering an advanced approach to fast and accurate AMR identification.
  • Neciah Dorh (FluoretiQ Limited) will present real-time pathogen identification and antibiotic sensitivity testing, moving beyond traditional growth-based phenotypic methods. This approach aims to accelerate diagnostic timelines and improve treatment decision-making for AMR infections.

This session will provide valuable insights into the latest advancements in AMR diagnostics, featuring groundbreaking innovations with the potential to improve global AMR surveillance and patient outcomes. Participants will have the opportunity to:

✅ Gain first-hand knowledge of emerging diagnostic technologies.
✅ Understand how new approaches can improve AMR detection and treatment strategies.
✅ Engage with leading experts and stakeholders in the field of AMR diagnostics.
