Are you thinking of what to do next with your ideas and inventions? This introductory course provides you with information to help you succeed! The objective of this introductory course is to provide a basic understanding of intellectual property for students, aspiring entrepreneurs, start-ups, and others interested in this topic.

This course is providing the tools to create impact from academic research. participants will be introduced to fundamental aspects of the topic by Dr. Christoph Hoock, Director of PATON | Patent Center Thuringia (Landespatentzentrum Thüringen) at the Technische Universität Ilmenau – a leading practitioner with many years of knowledge exchange, technology transfer and commercialisation experience. The workshop will introduce the concept of intellectual property and explain how it creates value. You will learn about the major forms of intellectual property protection in the European Union:  copyright, trademarks, and patents, as forms of intellectual property protection. The workshop will also address the area of patent searches and the question "How to read a patent?".
